Annotated Bibliography: Linking Text
So I was sick today, but as I said before, googledocs is nice and I don't have to be at school to work with Emily on it. It is easier to work when we can talk face-to-face, but as long as we are getting our work done, whatever works is good enough for me. We were able to complete most of our bibliography. We have our anchor text and two of our linking text. Now we only need one more linking text to call it good. That will be Friday's project.

Annotated Bibliography: Anchor Text
With our research plan completed, Emily and I were finally able to move on to our next assignment. We need to have an annotated bibliography of the texts we used as the basis for our project. Our anchor text is Reader's Digest's Complete Guide to Needlework. We chose this because it has very detailed instructions for both knitting and crocheting. We still need to write a paragraph about this text and chose our three linking texts. We will probably just use some more instruction books and some pattern websites we found.

Research Plan: Part D
Well, I was not at school today, but the fun thing about GoogleDocs is that I don't have to be in the same place as someone else to work on the same document. I worked from home while Emily was at school and we were able to pretty much complete our research plan. Once we think it's officially complete,we will send it on to Mr. Shoenborn and be done with it. Then we have to move on to the rest of the things we still have to complete for our senior project. :P I'm just glad to finally be done with this part.

Research Plan: Part C
Emily wasn't here today so I was left to start part C on my own. I got most of it done, but I need her to look over it a bit and edit some things. I attempted starting part D, but was unable to get anything on it done. I'll probably try again later and see if Emily can get on at the same time.

Research Plan: Part B
Emily and I have successfully completed the second part of our research plan. We worked very hard on wording it just so, so that it sounds intelligent. I think it turned out quite well, but I don't look forward to doing the other two parts. :P

Research Plan: Part A
So we also need to journal about what we do each day to work on our project since we've finally begun working on them during school. We've only just begun so we haven't done much, but Emily and I have begun working on our research plan. This is pretty much an overview of the project, why we're doing it, what our goals are, and how it is going. We successfully completed the first of four parts today. If you'd like to see our plans for the project, click here. We had a bit of fun coming up with exactly what to say in our intro paragraph.
(BTW: I will name the posts from our meetings with fun knitting and crocheting terms, but the posts for the school will be exactly what they are about.)
I enjoy that line. :)"We, however, know that many young people enjoy these hobbies just as much as little old grandmas do."

Picking Up a Dropped Stitch
I haven't blogged for a few weeks, so this will be a quick recap of what we've been doing.
A few weeks ago, Emily was sick so I was left to lead the group, which isn't a great idea because I have to leave early for my dual enrollment class, so I ended up leaving Ben in charge after I left because he is there every week and knows what is going on. We didn't start any new projects that week. I was feverishly working away at a blanket that I needed to finish before my sister's birthday and everyone else had some project or other to work on. We actually had a few newcomers: Clinton, Sarah, and Shmoo. Overall, it was a pretty good week.
I don't really remember much from a couple weeks ago. I do know that we started on a baby blanket made out of hexagons. A few people each took a color and instructions so they could make the required number of hexagons. We collected those last week and I took some to sew together and Emily took the rest. We had the blanket about half finished for this week's meeting. It still has a bit to be done, though.
Yesterday's meeting was really fun. As I said, Emily and I worked on the baby blanket, but Eva brought a whole bunch of knitting and crocheting books for people to borrow. Miriam was still working on a scarf, Ben was trying to finish a blanket his mom made, and Ian decided to try crocheting because of his sad attempts at knitting, so Ben tried showing him some of the basics. I actually got to stay for the whole thing because my German class is finally over. I think it was an overall good meeting. Having all the books to look at for instructions and ideas will be great and Eva is awesome for thinking to bring them.
Next week we plan to hand out Giraffe patterns. Everyone will make their own giraffe in different colors and we'll give them to Mrs. Spycher as a thank you present for supervising us and letting us use her room. I also want to make a few thank you cards for the people who donated yarn. Sadly, the year is winding down so we can't do many more projects. Emily and I really want to do something for the school that will stay, but what can you make out of yarn to put up in a school? We really have no idea.
(P.S.: A dropped stitch is when you miss a stitch and end up with a hole in your project. Picking it up is when you fix it by somehow making the loops and adding them back onto the needle or hook. The dropped stitch was a reference to the week Emily was gone and picking it up is that I no longer have to leave the meetings early.)
